Cinder sat on her apartment, a book in hand. She flipped the page quietly, biting her lip as she continued reading. “The world is not a wish-granting factory.”Cinder sighed, leaning back on the headboard of her bed. That was one of the harshest realities of life. If she had her wishes, she would still have her parents, the world wouldn't have been destroyed by radiation and bombs, and she wouldn't be half metal and wires. She heard a beep in the back of her consciousness, and looked down to her book to discover that in her anguish she had accidentally sent a small tendril of flame at the pages. She hopped out of bed, and began fanning the book with her hand, trying to extinguish it. Finally it went out with a small stream of water from the sink. Cinder groaned and set it on the bookeshef to dry, gazing at the other ruined books as she waited. Suddenly there was a knock on her door. Someone must have been alerted by the sound of her smoke alarm. Cinder looked down at her feet, and seeing no shoes to hide her prosthetic leg, frantically searched the room for socks or a pair of slippers. She dashed to the corner of her room as the knocking grew louder, sliding on the floppy black knit slippers and pulling her hoodie sleeves down to cover her hands. She brushed a piece of hair away from her face as she fumbled with the door handle. She finally got it open and tugged the sleeves of her hoodie down further. "Ah.. hello," she said, her face slightly flushed from the rush. (outfit)

I was in my room getting out of bed, when I heard a smoke alarm going off in another room, I decided I'd help so I quickly got my black cane and walked out in the hall and toward the room. I found the door and I knocked. It was Cinder. It had taken awhile for the door to open. "Ah.. hello." Cinder said. "I heard the alarm and came to check if you'd needed help." I retorted.

"I heard the alarm and came to check if you needed help." Cinder laughed breathily. "No, it's all good. Just.. you know, accidentally set my book on fire," she said, nodding towards the damp paper on her bookshelf. "Thanks, though. Um.. would you like to come in?" Cinder backed out of the doorway, motioning for him to come and sit down. She looked at her hoodie sleeves hanging too long over her hands, hoping she would be able to get her gloves on before it got too awkward.

"Sure," I made a faint smile as went in her apartment and sat down in the chair she pointed at. It had confused me how she had accidentally burnt a book, I decided to ask."You said you accidentally set a book on fire?"

"You accidentally set a book on fire?" Cinder was pushing papers off the table to make it look slightly neater, taking care to keep her hands covered by the folds of fabric. She looked at Rin as he asked the questions, blowing her hair out of her face. "Yeah... it happens when I get lost in thought and I don't have my gloves on to restrain my power," Cinder looked at the leather, heatproof gloves sitting in their box on the shelf. Another reason she needed her gloves... she didn't want anything spontaneously combusting. She shook her head to quickly clear her thoughts, and looked back at Rin sitting on the couch. "Uhm. Can I get you anything? Coffee? Tea? Hot chocolate?" She asked. As she listened for his response, she turned towards the shelf and put her gloves on quickly, keeping her hands in the sweatshirt until they were covered. She sighed in relief, and sat back down across from Rin. [on a side note, is Black Butler a good anime?]

"Tea would be nice," My faint smile faded into a grim smile. I folded my hands together in my lap and shot that look to Cinder."You said power. Please do tell me about this. I may even tell you about mine if you tell yours." I get the feeling that I am not the only one not from this world. The feeling pushes my grim smile wider. [Black Butler is amazing, one of my personal favorites. Just uh, keep in mind that the first season is PG-13 and it's a detective anime so lots of crimes are present.(Some aren't as pretty as others.)The second season is stupid and is WAY inappropriate. So I can only recommend the first season. Actually never mind I can only recommend the first 15 episodes, they are the only canon episodes and everything past it takes on a different story that wasn't meant to happen as it did. Past the first fifteen episodes have some very inappropriate parts. You've been warned.

"Tea would be nice." "Okay, great," Cinder replied, walking towards the small kitchen. She pulled out a porcelain tea pot and set it on the counter. She filled it with boiling water, and dropped in a few tea bags, a combination of black tea, spearmint, and chamomile, her personal favorite. Pulling two mugs and a small pot for milk from the shelf, she set them on a tray along with some sugar. She pulled the tray up from the counter and balanced it carefully, setting it on the coffee table in front of Rin. She slid one cup in front of her and took the other for herself. "You said power. Please do tell me about this. I may even tell you about mine if you tell yours." Cinder looked into his eyes. Well, eye. "I was born with the power to create fire. I'm not fireproof, though... I learned that the hard way a long time ago." She sighed, trying not to think about the only memories of her parents, and what she had been told about the fire she had killed them in.

I sipped the tea. She's not exactly like me, but at least similar; she has a power that sets her apart from most humans. I stand up and remove the eyepatch. My grim smile fades. I look at Cinder. "These markings are a seal that keep me here, alive. They also provide my immortality. I cannot tire or get sick." I remove the glove on my left hand as well. I put my hand on my face near my eye to show that the markings match. "Should someone destroy the markings, I die." I put the glove back on and the eyepatch back on and sat back down. "I trust you won't need to tell anyone else about this."

Cinder watched as Rin removed his eyepatch and gloves. There were markings, a cross between a star and a pentogram. "These markings are a seal that keep me here, alive. They also provide my immortality. I cannot tire or get sick." His smile faded from his face, and Cinder, taking a sip from her tea, closed her eyes and sighed. "I... I also have a secret." She, with shaking hands, removed her gloves, revealing her mismatched hands. She clasped them together to stop their shaking and took in a shallow breath. "When I was very young, I started a fire that killed my parents. I survived, barely. A... friend, I guess you could call him, took me in. He told me that I was angry at them and meant to hurt them. It's my fault they're dead." She opened her eyes, trying to stop the tears welling up in the corners from falling.

"It's my fault they're dead." Cinder had said along with tears. "I don't blame you." I put my tea down and looked down at her hands. "You had no idea how to control the fire, and it's not your fault you have the power in the first place. I'm sorry. I never meant to make you cry." I felt a pinch of regret as I saw the tears.

"You had no idea how to control the fire, and it's not your fault you have the power in the first place. I'm sorry. I never meant to make you cry." Cinder took in a ragged breath as she wiped the tears from her face. "It's not your fault. It's just that I don't tell many people... I've been holding that in for a while." She sighed as she replaced her gloves, and took a small sip of tea to help calm her down. "But... anyways. Enough about me, how did you discover your powers? If you don't mind me asking."

I haven't told anyone my origin before, the idea made me shudder. "I'm a homunculus. I'm an artificially created human. It almost didn't work, if it weren't for the seals on my body." I got out it fast, it didn't feel good, but she spilled her secrets so I should show mine. I sipped my tea and put it back down. "Anywho, how's your day been?"

"I'm a homunculus. I'm an artificially created human. It almost didn't work, if it weren't for the seals on my body." Rin seemed as uncomfortable as Cinder had, and she felt a twinge of remorse for making him feel that way. "A homunculus. I've heard of them. Interesting." "Anywho, how's your day been?"[/b] Rin changed the subject suddenly as he took a sip of tea. Cinder couldn't help but laugh a bit at the awkwardness of it. She felt glad to know that underneath the cool, collected cover, Rin was possibly as awkward as Cinder herself was. "Well, ah... I can't say good, but it hasn't been bad either. I got a tracker on a budding criminal... she'll never know what hit her the next time she does something not so good.." Cinder could feel her metal hand warming at the thought of catching another criminal to add to her recent streak. She smiled, looking at Rin. "And your day?"

I smiled. "My day is well, you know, with just waking up and coming to help with a fire and all." I looked out the window in Cinder's apartment. Cinder was the only one to know who I am, besides my creator. "Hmm, I see you've got everything handled. What about the criminal you're on?"

"My day is well, you know, with just waking up and coming to help with a fire and all." Cinder's cheeks blushed a bit at mention of the fire. She laughed, and said, "Oh, yeah. Sorry about that." "What about the criminal you're on?" Cinder crossed her legs as she thought. She didn't know too much about her, yet. "Well.. her name is Hatsune Mei. She's a hacker, and she's been breaking into government websites, and banks to spread lies and fund her expeditions. Ergo, tracker lets us see what she's doing and the next time she does something she shouldn't, we can send a squad straight out there."
